The Waldensian Youth Movement is made up of young people from the Evangelical Waldensian Church of the Río de la Plata. Each year in January the Río de la Plata Youth Camp and Assembly is held. It lasts seven to ten days, and during the assembly a youth activities coordinating team is chosen (two team members from Argentina and two from Uruguay). The Waldensian Youth Movement holds camps and gatherings during the year and participates with youth delegates in the annual synod meeting of the Evangelical Waldensian Church of the Río de la Plata.
One of the areas of Waldensian life in the Río de la Plata that benefits from the most youth participation is camp and conference ministry. Youth join in these gatherings both as participants and as leaders. In addition, intergenerational gatherings are frequently organized, in which the youth presence is strong, including theology seminars, sports festivals, and various local or regional activities.
To mitigate the isolating impact of the COVID pandemic, the Equipo Requinto was created with help from CEVAA (the Community of Churches in Mission) to support the Waldensians’ commitment to youth and intergenerational ministry.
