The Scottish Waldensian Society was founded at a public meeting in Edinburgh in 1850, arising from the interest of church people in Scotland for the ancient Reformed Church, the Chiesa Valdese Evangelica (Waldensian Evangelical Church).
The Scottish Waldensian Society has fostered links for over 150 years between the Churches in Scotland in the Reformed tradition – Church of Scotland and Free Churches – with exchanges of people, including students at the Theology Faculties of the Scottish Universities and at the Waldensian Theological College in Rome.
