William Stephen GillySet up in London in 1825 by Canon Stephen Gilly, the London Vaudois Committee, which later became the English Committee in Aid of Waldensian Church Missions, included various lay and clergy people, including members of Parliament, peers, and bishops (one of whom later became an Archbishop of Canterbury).

From helping restore the Trapani church, to repairing cracked windows and pews, to funding youth activities from the Waldensian Valleys to Sicily, to financing a new mast for Radio Beckwith, to a multicultural multilingual hymn book (which is still in process!), the Committee works alongside the Italian Waldensians in whatever ways they can.

Above all, the committee supports students preparing for pastoral ministry who want to spend their compulsory “Year Abroad” in England. The Committee’s most recent ordinand was ordained at the Waldensian Synod in August 2024 and is now serving in Angrogna.
