A "must see"
The
Waldensian Valleys include the Pellice, Germanasca and low Chisone.
In ancient times they also included the high Chisone and Susa Valleys,
which were French until 1713. This is a small region in the western
Piedmont mountains, a little more than an hour by car from Turin.
In
recent decades the phenomenon of minorities and interest in their
cultural heritage has aroused growing fascination with the Waldensians
and their valleys. It has helped in forming an awareness of a special
identity in the inhabitants and tourists visiting the area.
The
Huguenot cross, the churches, and the Waldensian customs are expressions
of this cultural and spiritual tradition. In the Waldensian valleys
there are many natural and historical places of interest for visitors.
The web site (http://www.geocities.com/luoghistorici/ENindex-2.php)
allows you to take a virtual tour of this region brimming with history,
culture and spirituality.
